The Power Up 450 Jet is a 2.8 ounce, 600 watt, 2950KV outrunner brushless motor that works well on many small to medium size models designed for high speed.
This motor is an excellent choice for the Multiplex Funjet Ultra, and will provide speeds over 100 mph using a 3 cell Lipo battery. To reach this speed, we recommend using the Sky Power 60A ESC with Switchmode BEC, an APC 6x5.5E prop, and an EZ Flite Pro 11.1v 2200 50C Lipo battery. We tested this power system on a Funjet, and we measured a speed of 105 mph in level flight (using a radar gun).
A more moderate, lower cost power set up for the Funjet includes the Power Up 450 Jet, HURC 50A ESC, EMP 5x5E prop and an EZ Flite Pro 11.1v 2200 50C Lipo battery. This power system delivers about 30 oz of thrust, and we measured a speed of 88 mph in level flight with a Funjet using these components. This would be a good power system for the Stryker and large flying wings as well.
MOUNTING OPTIONS: The Power Up 450 Jet can be mounted behind a firewall, and will fit on many motor mounts designed for 28mm diameter motors. The screw holes on the base of the motor are tapped for 3mm screws, and are spaced 16mm and 19mm across the center of the motor. We suggest the use of the 19mm spacing only, in order to avoid inadvertent screw contact with the windings of the motor, which are built up fairly close to the mount casing of the motor.
We recommend purchasing a 3.17mm Prop Adapter for mounting props on the Power Up 450 Jet.
